About Professional Choice

Professional Choice Remodeling and Construction was the result of a remodeling project – well, actually two remodeling projects. When Ty Perry founded Professional Choice it was in the midst of project number one. He found while remodeling and restoring an old adobe home for his mother in the historic district of Tularosa, New Mexico that he enjoyed the creativity and closer relationship of this type of building. It was different from the work he had done in the commercial sector – everything from condominiums to aerospace construction projects; from elementary schools to fiber optics and communications construction. Ty rediscovered a passion for building that he hadn’t felt for quite a while. As a result, project number two revolved around envisioning himself in a new career, “remodeling” himself as the founder and owner of Professional Choice Remodeling and Construction.

Whether you require new construction, either residential or commercial, or the specialized restoration of a vintage or historic home –Professional Choice can handle a wide variety of building needs.  Looking to upgrade? Perhaps you want to make improvements to an existing residence or business or take an even bigger step by moving up to a completely new home or facility. Professional Choice is the right choice.

One of Ty’s father’s philosophies was “you work five days a week to make a living and the other two for yourself to get ahead. “ Ty operates Professional Choice Remodeling and Construction with much the same philosophy and work ethic - by promising to devote the time, energy and personal attention necessary to complete your construction project so that both you and he are completely satisfied with the end result.

The “Up-to-date” Approach - Ty Perry knows that the trends and techniques of the building industry are constantly changing and he makes certain that Professional Choice keeps up with them.

Home buyers are ready to “go green.” Green building is no longer a fringe market - it is front and center in the building industry. Consumers choose a green-built home for a variety of reasons, primarily the desire for greater energy efficiency. This can be accomplished through a variety of methods including the use of energy-efficient windows, increasing the amount of insulation, selecting more efficient correctly sized heating, cooling and water-heating equipment, using recycled materials and component building materials that use less wood, and using low-flow toilet bowls and tanks. Doing whatever is necessary to decrease the “footprint” the new commercial building, new home or home addition has on the environment , including minimizing the use of natural resources and energy is the goal of “green” construction. All this must be accomplished while making the end product fit the consumer’s design choices and making the structure appealing and attractive. It has to look good as well as perform efficiently.

Ty Perry’s decision to pursue certification through a national program shows his desire to keep Professional Choice prepared to accommodate today’s home buyers.

Background and Biographical Information - The beginning of Ty’s construction experience was a family affair. From the age of 11, he helped his father with carpentry and painting on weekends and during the summer. While growing up, most of the family’s homes were remodeling projeTy Perry - Las Cruces remodelercts.  The Perrys relocated from near Ruidoso, New Mexico to Washington State where Ty graduated High school in 1977. He worked in lumber and plywood manufacturing while attending a community college in Spokane.

Returning to New Mexico in 1979, Ty worked as a carpenter - building and remodeling homes. In 1985, he was a working supervisor with a building company doing condo remodeling and ended up moving to El Paso, Texas.  The late 80s found Ty, now with wife Karla and newborn son, Kegann, in Los Angeles working in aerospace construction.  Eventually tiring of the pace in Los Angeles, the family moved to Colorado - where second son, Quinn, was born - and Ty worked as a freelance carpenter and in a custom wood stair shop. Prospects took the family back to El Paso where he was a construction company project manager and then field manager. Ty dabbled in home interiors, got his New Mexico contractor’s license and daughter, Riley, was born in 1993. The family moved to Las Cruces in 2000 and Ty worked in fiber optics and communications construction prior to returning to commercial construction with a local company whose projects included apartment complexes in Deming, New Mexico, the Piņon Hall Dormitories at New Mexico State University and the new elementary school in Hatch, New Mexico. Karla Perry has become much sought after as a muralist. You can view her work at www.___________.com. Finally the Perry Family has put down roots in Las Cruces and plan to stay here.
